LEBANON, Tenn. – The Blue Raider junior varsity volleyball team won its second consecutive match on Tuesday afternoon at Cumberland (Tenn.), defeating the homestanding Pheonix 2-1.
Lindsey Wilson held off the hosts 25-20 in the first set before coming up just short in the second frame, 25-23. The Blue Raiders, however, proceeded to dominate the winner-take-all third set, 15-4, to improve to 7-2 overall on the year and 5-1 in Mid-South Conference play.
Sophomore
Natalie Wandrie hit .406 and pummeled the Cumberland defense with a match-high 16 kills, pushing her over 50 this season. She also put down four aces.
Jamie Phelps and
Gracie Friedrich added five kills, apiece. The latter of the two totaled three blocks, as well, including two solos.
Ahalia Rameriz dished out 19 of the Blue Raiders' 30 assists to go along with eight digs, while the duo of
Lillie Walker and
Cammie Judd took control from the service line with four aces each.
As a team, Lindsey Wilson hit .253 with 30 kills and 14 service aces.
The Blue Raiders begin the second half of their league schedule at 4 p.m. CST on Tuesday, October 8 at Georgetown (Ky.).
