ELKHART, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team turned into another dominating performance on Saturday at the Bethel (Ind.) Quad Meet, topping Indiana Wesleyan, 179-73, and the homestanding Pilots, 186-98.
Four different Blue Raiders garnered NAIA provisional standards, including
Sergio Ybarra in two of his three individual wins. The freshman bested the field in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle with provisional times, each instance finishing just ahead of one of his teammates who also met provisional standards with their second-place efforts. Ybarra notched his third solo win in the 200-yard individual medley.
Akram Nejjar posted the runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle, while
Fabio Martin Rojo came in second place in the 500-yard race. The latter of the two did, however, earn a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Lindsey Wilson's last provisional cut came from
Dan Spinola in the 100-yard breaststroke with a winning time of 58.62. He also collected a win as part of the Blue Raiders' 200-yard medley relay team with teammates
Dario Soria,
Jose Rivas, and
Azahn Hicks.
Soria stood out individually in the day's backstroke events, sweeping the 100 and 200-yard races. Hicks placed second in the 50-yard freestyle by one tenth of a second to
Max van Schagen.
Malte Ahrens rounded out the Blue Raider victors on the day in the 200-yard butterfly, reaching the wall at 2:01.88.
Lindsey Wilson resumes its schedule at 12 p.m. CST on Saturday, November 2 in Barbourville, Kentucky for a tri-meet with Union Commonwealth (Ky.) and Campbellsville (Ky.).
