Football Travels to Faulkner for Conference Opener Saturday

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson football team opens Mid-South Conference play with a trip to Montgomery, Alabama to take on Faulkner (Ala.) Saturday at Noon CT at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.

The Blue Raiders enter play with a record of 2-1 and have won their last two matchups. Lindsey Wilson was last in action on Sept. 14 when they defeated Bluefield 44-20 in Columbia. The Blue Raiders gained a season-high 522 yards of offense in the victory and hit season-highs in rushing yards (265) and in passing yards with 257.

Reid Brickey completed 16 of his 18 passes for a career-high 212 yards with three touchdowns in the win while David Gardner Jr. rushed for a career-high 155 yards on 19 carries, scoring a pair of touchdowns. Defensively, Lindsey Wilson limited the Rams to just 60 yards on the ground while Jeremiah Fergerson led the defense with eight tackles.

Through three games, the Blue Raiders lead the NAIA allowing just 24.3 rushing yards per game and rank 14th in the country allowing 263 yards per game. The Lindsey Wilson offense is averaging 33.7 points per game and 352 yards a game. The Blue Raiders are 19th in the NAIA averaging 200.3 rushing yards per game.

Faulkner comes into Saturday's matchup with a record of 2-2. The Eagles defeated Point 20-17 last week. Duece Marshall completed 17 of his 29 passes throwing for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Marshall earned MSC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday. La'Derrick Bell caught four passes for 165 yards and one touchdown. Faulkner averages 19 points per game and 332 yards a game.

Saturday will be the 10th meeting between the Blue Raiders and the Eagles. Lindsey Wilson is 7-2 all-time against Faulkner and has won the last six. All-time, the Eagles are 2-1 in the series in Montgomery. Lindsey Wilson won last season's matchup 49-21 in Columbia.
