COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson football team closed out the 2024 season with a 27-10 loss to No. 11 Georgetown (Ky.) on Senior Day Saturday at Parnell Family Stadium.
Pryor Lamb completed 7-of-his-19 passes for 97 yards and one touchdown.
David Gardner Jr. led the Blue Raiders (5-4, 3-3 Mid-South Conference) in rushing with 52 yards.
Seth Phillips caught three passes for 43 yards while
Henry Cason had one catch for 25 yards and a touchdown. Defensively,
Cameron Rankins recorded a season-high 14 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.
Jeremiah Fergerson added nine tackles while
Howie Gant had an interception.
Lindsey Wilson received the opening kickoff and put together a 10-play, 75-yard drive capped of by a 25-yard pass from Lamb to Cason giving the Blue Raiders a 7-0 lead. The two teams then traded punts before Georgetown got on the board with a 35-yard field goal to make it 7-3 with 2:14 left in the first quarter.
In the second quarter,
Darius Holden Jr. tipped a Gehrig Slunaker pass that ended up in the hands of Gant who returned the interception to the Tigers' 32. Lindsey Wilson turned the Georgetown turnover into three points on a
Harris Nichols 46-yard field goal increasing the Blue Raider lead to 10-3 with 5:02 left in the first half. The ensuing kickoff was from the Lindsey Wilson 20 after a Blue Raider penalty following the field goal. Dillon Warren took the kick 95 yards to tie the game at 10. The Blue Raiders and the Tigers went into halftime tied at 10.
Georgetown scored on its first two possessions of the second half to take a 20-10 lead with 29 seconds left in the third quarter. The Lindsey Wilson offense was only able to gain one first down in the second half. Georgetown added a late touchdown to take a 27-10 advantage.
