BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team split a tri-meet at Union Commonwealth (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Raiders fell to the homestanding Bulldogs but picked up a big win over Campbellsville (Ky.).
Dario Soria led the way with three victories, including a clean sweep of the backstroke events where he continues to dominate this season. The sophomore touched the wall at 54.35 in the 100-yard race, missing an NAIA provisional cut by .05 seconds.
Soria earned his third win as a leg in the Blue Raiders' 200-yard freestyle relay alongside
Max van Schagen,
Jose Rivas, and
Azahn Hicks. The latter of the four earned Lindsey Wilson's only other individual win in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in with a provisional mark of 21.93.
Van Schagen added a provisional time of his own in the 100-yard freestyle, and
Sergio Ybarra's third-place finish of 4:14.20 in the 400-yard individual medley was good enough for a provisional cut, as well.
Freshman
Dan Spinola collected a set of NAIA provisional standards in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events as he placed second in both races.
Lindsey Wilson returns home to the Holloway Natatorium at 11 a.m. CST on Saturday, November 9 to host Life (Ga.).
