CORBIN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's wrestling team opened its season at the Pepsi Patriot Open Saturday. 

Adrian Ayala finished sixth in the 149-pound bracket. Ayala opened his tournament with an 11-2 major decision over Campbellsville's Gavin Andreoni. He then advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-2 decision over Carlos Santos from Indiana Tech. Ayala picked up a 5-2 decision over Cumberland's Jared Dinh in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he lost in SV-1 4-1 to Reinhardt's Devin Griffen. His tournament came to an end with a pair of medical forfeits.

Drake Montelongo lost his first match of the day in the 141-pound bracket before picking up a pair of wins in the consolation rounds. Montelongo's day came to an end in the third consolation round. Darrell Tabor at 133 pounds dropped a 13-10 decision in the first round before picking up two consolation victories.

Jaylin Bien-Aime was the lone Blue Raider to win a match in the fresh/soph brackets. In the 285-pound bracket, he started with a bye and secured a fall in the second period over Zach Knowles. Bien-Aime then went on to lose his next two consolation matches to conclude his tournament.

The Blue Raiders are back in action Nov. 16 when they head to Des Moines, Iowa for the Grandview University Open at 9 am CST.
