COLUMBIA, Ky. – A total of eight Lindsey Wilson football student-athletes collected All-Mid-South Conference honors, the conference office announced Thursday.
Corey Teague,
Davontaye Saunders,
Darius Moore,
Cameron Rankins and
Howie Gant all earned first team honors. Teague picked up his honors on the offensive line, Saunders earned first team honors for all-purpose and as a return specialist, Moore a defensive lineman, Rankins a linebacker and Gant as a defensive back.
Larry Montgomery,
Braden Ford and
Ben Banks were all named to the second team. Montgomery earned the honor on the offensive line, Ford a defensive lineman and Banks as long snapper.
Teague and Montgomery anchored an offensive line that allowed just six sacks in nine games. The Blue Raiders averaged 307.1 yards per game and 26.6 points per game this season. Saunders ranked second in the MSC averaging 120.1 all-purpose yards per game. He returned 12 kicks this season averaging 29.4 yards per return and had one touchdown totaling 92 yards.
Moore finished the season with 23 tackles, one sack, four tackles for loss, and also recovered a fumble.
Rankins led the Blue Raiders in tackles (80) and was second on the team in tackles for loss with 10. He also recorded three sacks, one interception and also forced a fumble. Rankins' 80 total tackles are third-most in the conference. Gant led the Blue Raiders with four interceptions and returned two of them back for touchdowns. He also recorded 42 tackles on the season. Gant's four interceptions are tied for second-most in the conference.
Ford led Lindsey Wilson with 12.5 tackles for loss and was second on the team with four sacks. He totaled 32 tackles this season and also forced a fumble. Banks finished the season 100 percent on all his snaps.
Banks and Teague earn All-Conference honors for the second time in their careers. Ford, Gant, Montgomery, Moore, Rankins and Saunders are All-Conference selections for the first time in their careers.
All-conference teams are selected by a vote of the conference coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.
