Four School Records Fall on Day Two of Total Performance Invitational; Women’s Swimming Seventh

GAMBIER, Ohio – Four school records fell on the second day of the Total Performance Invitational at the James A. Steen Aquatic Center on Friday as the Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team sits in seventh heading into the final day.

The first record to fall on Friday was in the 200-yard medley relay, Maaike Broersma, Sara Motyl, de Goede and Natalia Gorska broke the school record with a time of 1:43.08 to finish fourth.

De Goede broke a five-year school record in the 200-yard freestyle finishing with a time of 1:50.74 in the prelims. De Goede then topped that time in the finals setting a new record time of 1:49.45 to finish first and earn an NAIA A standard. Also in the 200, Hannah Woyscheszik finished 10th in the "C" final with a provisional time of 1:59.71. Natascha Evreinoff, Julia Secanell, and Savannah Schoeman also earned provisional times.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay the quartet of Nathalie Medina, Woyscheszik, Broersma and de Goede broke the record by over seven seconds with a time of 7:39.18 to finish fourth.

Broersma broke her own school record in the prelims of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.84 and earned an A cut which was also the pool record. In the finals, she won the event finishing in 53.90. Gorska earned a provisional standard with a time of 58.81 finishing sixth in the "B" final. Woyscheszik finished the prelims with a time of 1:01.05 to earn a provisional standard.

Emma Verkuijl finished eighth in the "B" final and 18th overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a provisional standard time of 58.04. Natascha Evreinoff finished runner-up in the "C" final and 22nd overall earning a provisional standard with a time of 57.69. In the preliminaries, Sara Motyl finished with a provisional time of 59.13

Avery Herring and Secanell earned provisional cuts in the 400-yard individual medley. Herring finished with a time of 4:49.90 while Secanell touched the wall in 4:51.69.  Motyl finished ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.84 earning a provisional standard. Woyscheszik earned a provisional standard time of 1:02.01 in the 100-yard backstroke time trial.

The third and final day of the Total Performance Invitational gets underway at 10 a.m. CST on Saturday.
