GAMBIER, Ohio – On the final day of the Total Performance Invitational Saturday, the Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team broke a quartet of school records and posted a seventh-place finish.
Maaike Broersma broke her own school record in the 200-yard backstroke. Broersma won the event touching the wall in 1:58.03 breaking her previous record of 1:58.06. She also earned an NAIA "A" cut in the event.
Hannah Woyscheszik earned a provisional standard in the prelims with a time of 2:15.64.
Kirsten de Goede broke the school record in the 100-yard freestyle prelims. De Goede touched the wall in 49.93 seconds to finish first and also earned an NAIA "A" standard. Broersma was second in the prelims with an "A" cut time of 50.80. In the finals, de Goede finished first with a time of 50.17 while Broersma was 10th.
Natalia Gorska earned a provisional standard with a time of 53.40.
Avery Herring,
Natascha Evreinoff, and Woyscheszik also earned a provisional standard.
Nathalie Medina broke the school record in the 200-yard butterfly. Medina touched the wall in 2:04.90 earning an "A" standard and finished sixth.
Emma Verkuijl earned a provisional standard in the prelims with a time of 2:19.52.
The quartet of Broersma, Medina, Gorska and de Goede broke the school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay finishing runner-up with a time of 3:25.90.
Medina earned a provisional standard in the 1,650-yard freestyle finishing seventh with a time of 17:35.72.
Sara Motyl earned a provisional cut in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.53 to finish 26th.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Jan. 18 when they host the Lindsey Wilson Tri Meet against Asbury (Ky.) and Tennessee Southern.
