Women’s Wrestling Posts Four Top-Eight Finishes at Missouri Valley Open

MARSHALL, Mo. – The Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team post four top-eight individual finishes at the Missouri Valley Open on Saturday.

India Page had the best Blue Raider finish coming in fourth at 180 pounds. Page (No. 6 in the NAIA at 180 pounds) needed just 14 seconds to pin her first opponent. In the second round, she picked up a 10-0 tech fall over Ottawa's Ciera Hutton-Spieker. Page advanced to the quarterfinals with a 2-1 decision over Grand View's Andjela Prijovic. She went on to the semifinals with an 11-0 tech fall. Page lost her first match falling to Iowa's Naomi Simon (No. 7 in NCAA at 180 pounds). In the consolation semifinals, she earned a 3-2 decision over Campbellsville's Lilliana Vergara (No. 3 in NAIA at 180 pounds). Page finished fourth after forfeiting the third-place match.

Kori Campbell finished sixth in the 138-pound bracket. Campbell won her first five matches of the tournament. She opened with a pin of Cara Cheng from Missouri Baptist then earned a 12-1 tech fall over Iowa's Danni Swihart. Campbell advanced to the semifinals with a 5-3 decision over Missouri Valley's Serenity De La Garza (No. 7 in NAIA at 138 pounds) and an injury default. She advanced to the semifinals after an injury forfeit and then lost her next three matches to finish sixth.

Josselinne Campos (No. 14 in NAIA at 145 pounds) finished sixth at 145 pounds. Campos opened her tournament with a first-period pin then picked up back-to-back 10-0 tech falls to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, she pinned Grandview's Avangeline Turner. Campos then lost her next three matches as she finished in sixth.

Kamilah Brooks posted an eighth-place finish at 124 pounds. Brooks began her tournament with a 12-0 tech fall over Grand Valley State's Olivia Heft. She then picked up a 12-8 decision over Thalia Vogelsang in the second round. After losing in the third round, Brooks won her next three consolation matches all by decision. She then lost her last two matches to come in eighth.

The Blue Raiders are back in action for the Patriot Duals December 7-8 in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
