COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams each defeated Life on Saturday on Senior Day at the Doris & Bob Holloway Health and Wellness Center.
On the women's side, the Blue Raiders defeated Life 164-66.
Maaike Broersma,
Sara Motyl,
Kirsten de Goede and
Natalia Gorska got the day started with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet touched the wall in 1:48.19 defeating Life by almost seven seconds.
Broersma also won three individual events on the day. Broersma earned an NAIA A standard in the 100-yard backstroke winning the event with a time of 55.69. She won her second event in the 50-yard freestyle earning a provisional standard time of 23.92. Broersma touched the wall in 2:02.99 earning a provisional standard to win the 200-yard backstroke.
The Blue Raiders took the top-three spots in the 200-yard freestyle.
Alejandra Martinez finished first with a time of 2:03.18,
Julia Secanell finished second in 2:03.91 while Woyscheszik was third.
Motyl earned provisional standards in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke winning both events. She finished the 100 in 1:07.87 and touched the wall in 2:31.71 to win the 200. Verkuijl won the 200 fly.
De Goede earned a provisional standard in the 100-freestyle winning with a time of 54.32 while Gorska earned a provisional standard finishing third with a time of 55.26.
Savannah Schoemann earned a win in the 500-yard freestyle.
Natascha Evreinoff earned a provisional standard in the 100-yard butterfly finishing in first with a time of 1:00.33. De Goede picked up her second win in the 100-yard individual medley.
Carlene Taylor, Schoeman, Martinez and Gorska finished runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.91.
The Blue Raider men defeated the Running Eagles 156-98.
Ethan Butler, Guillem Casesnoves,
Verik Wolfe and
Adam Lamhiti won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:44.13. A pair of Blue Raiders earned provisional standards in the 1,650-yard freestyle.
Fabio Martin Rojo finished first in 16:55.19 while
Akram Nejjar finished second with a time of 17:08.72.
Jose Rivas earned the first of his two wins in the 200-yard butterfly with a provisional standard time of 1:59.49. He picked up his second win in the 100-yard butterfly earning a provisional time of 52.94.
Clinton Eales earned a provisional standard in the 200-yard freestyle finishing first in 1:47.54 while
Dario Soria finished runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke with a provisional standard time of 53.72.
Azahn Hicks won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.25 while
Dan Spinola won the 200-yard breaststroke with a provisional time of 2:12.25. Nejjar won the 500-yard freestyle touching the wall in 4:55.72.
Nejjar, Soria, Rivas and
Max van Schagen took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay finishing with a time of 1:33.11.
The Blue Raiders return to the pool for the Total Performance Invitational Nov. 21-23 in Gambier, Ohio.
