Women’s Wrestling Goes 3-1 on First Day of Patriot Duals

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team went 3-1 on the first day of the Patriot Duals Friday.

Campbellsville (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.) had multiple teams competing, and the Blue Raiders took on the Campbellsville Black team and the Cumberlands Blue team.

The Blue Raiders defeated Campbellsville, Cumberlands, and Lourdes (Ohio) and fell to NCAA Division II Emmanuel (Ga.).

Lindsey Wilson 40 – Campbellsville Black 6
The Blue Raiders got a 10-0 lead after back-to-back forfeits at 103 and 110 pounds. Callie Payton earned an 11-1 tech fall over Brittney Vincens increasing the Lindsey Wilson lead to 14-1. Campbellsville's lone win came at 124 pounds, with Addison Rudolph earning an 8-7 decision over Sydney Bridenstine.

Back-to-back tech falls from Kamilah Brooks (131 pounds), and Leidaly Rivera (No. 10 in NAIA at 138 pounds) at 138 pounds, which pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 23-5. Kori Campbell pinned Leilani Martinez in the second period at 145 pounds. Lexi Ritchie earned a 10-5 decision over Meghan Werbrich, giving the Blue Raiders a 31-6 advantage. India Page (No. 6 at 180 pounds) picked up a 16-0 tech fall over Rebecca Deyo at 180 pounds, and Heyeni Costa (No. 12 at 207 pounds) closed out the dual with a first-period pin at 207 pounds.

Lindsey Wilson 18 – Emmanuel 24
Hope Eastes earned a 10-0 tech fall over Alyssa Archer at 103 pounds to open the dual. Payton Agnell tied the dual at four with an 11-0 tech fall over Lynnlie Rountree at 110 pounds. The Lions took control of the match, winning the next four weight classes with three tech falls and a decision to lead 19-4. Ritchie pinned Kendra Heroch in the second period at 145 pounds to trim the deficit to 19-9. Emmanuel clinched the win after a forfeit at 160 pounds. Page picked up a 10-0 tech fall at 180 pounds, while Costa earned a pin at 207 pounds to close the match.

Lindsey Wilson 29 – Lourdes 9
The Blue Raiders led 5-0 following a forfeit at 103 pounds. Lourdes' Stefana Jelacic (No. 4 in NAIA at 110 pounds) earned a 10-0 tech fall over Reagan Thomas to make it 5-4. Following a Lourdes forfeit at 117 pounds, Brooks pinned Emma Rinehart in the first period to give Lindsey Wilson a 15-4 lead. Rivera picked up a 12-0 tech fall over Phylicia Sudario at 131 pounds.

Forfeits at 145 and 180 pounds increased the Lindsey Wilson advantage to 29-4. Lourdes' final victory came at 207 pounds when Allie Phillips (No. 14 in NAIA at 207 pounds) pinned Costa.

Lindsey Wilson 24 – Cumberlands Blue 19
Angelina Casteneda (No. 11 in NAIA at 103 pounds) defeated Archer 15-4, giving the Patriots a 4-1 lead. Thomas then earned a 12-4 decision over Ryleigh Hays at 110 pounds, cutting the Cumberlands lead to 5-4.  Shammilka Miranda (No. 7 in NAIA at 117 pounds) earned an 11-3 decision over Payton, giving the Patriots an 8-5 lead. Brooks earned a hard-fought 12-11 decision at 124 pounds over Presley Anderson (No. 11 in NAIA at 124 pounds), making it 9-8. The Patriots picked up a 14-6 decision at 131 pounds to make it 12-9.

Back-to-back wins at 138 and 145 pounds gave Lindsey Wilson a 16-13 lead. Rivera defeated Annabelle Suto 8-2, while Campbell earned an 11-0 tech fall against Cara Brown. Cumberlands retook the lead 18-16 after Sierra Mefford ( No. 13 in NAIA at 160 pounds) pinned Ritchie. Page earned an 8-2 decision over Micah Fisher, tying the match at 19. In the decisive match, Costa pinned Maquoia Bernabe (No. 2 in NAIA at 207 pounds) with nine seconds left for the win.

The Blue Raiders return to the mat for the second day of the Patriot duals on Saturday morning.
