Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. -- No. 21-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis opened Mid-South Conference play today with a 7-0 win at Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.).
The Blue Raiders (3-2) did not drop a set in the sweep.
Lindsey Wilson claimed the doubles point while winning all three matches.
Jaume Barcelo and Lucas Marques started the day with a 6-0 win in the second-seeded match over Theo Devals and Brayden Smith. Anatoliy Voloshyn and Aldo Randazzo secured the doubles point with their 6-3 victory over Brayden Martin and Braden Young on court three.
With the point in hand, Jan Silhavy and Miquel Perez -- ranked No. 9 in the NAIA in doubles -- finished the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win over Merlin Bolema and Nolan Laduree in the top-seeded match.
In singles, Barcelo and Randazzo combined to drop just one game in their wins on courts two and six, respectively.
Barcelo started the singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Laduree to extend the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0. Perez followed on court three with a 6-4, 6-2 Devals.
Silhavy recorded the decisive point in the top-seeded match in the most competitive singles match of the day. Silhavy -- the seventh-ranked singles player in the NAIA -- needed a tiebreak in the first set. He dominated the break 7-0 and used that momentum in the second set with a 6-1 win to close out the team victory.
Marques, Randazzo, and Voloshyn capped the afternoon with straight-set wins. The trio surrendered just seven games in the three wins.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, March 1, as the Blue Raiders host Huntington (Ind.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex in the team's home opener.
