SELLERSBURG, Ind. -- The No. 16-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2024 season today with a 7-0 sweep of Indiana Southeast at the Southern Indiana Tennis Complex.
Lindsey Wilson (1-1) did not lose a set over the nine matches.
The Blue Raiders claimed the doubles point after winning all three matches to open the day.
Anatoliy Voloshyn and Aldo Randazzo picked up the first win with a 6-1 blitz of Eric Whitehouse and Nolan Patterson in the third-seeded match.
Jan Silhavy and Miquel Perez followed with a win on court one by an identical score over Connor Mason and Camden Jones to help Lindsey Wilson claim the doubles point. Jaume Barcelo and Lucas Marques finished up doubles play on court two with a 6-4 win over Keith Asplund and Owen Law.
Perez opened singles play on court three with a win while dropping just two games. He beat Law 6-1, 6-1 to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 team lead. Silhavy -- the seventh-ranked singles player in the NAIA -- quickly extended the team lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Mason in the top-seeded singles match.
Marques followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jones on court four to secure the team win.
Barcelo, Voloshyn, and Randazzo -- who did not lose a game -- all won their matches in straight sets to cap the 7-0 win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at noon CT on Saturday, Feb. 17, as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 1-ranked Georgia Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
