Wrestling Wraps Up Competition at NAIA National Championships

PARK CITY, Kan. – Four Lindsey Wilson wrestlers competed on the second day of the NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships on Friday at Hartman Arena.

The Blue Raiders finish the national championships in 29th after totaling 12 team points.

No. 7 seed Conner Diamond began his day in the championship quarterfinals at 125 pounds. Diamond fell to second-seeded Brandon Orum of Life in a 12-0 major decision. His championship came to an end losing to No. 4 seed Brody Gee from Saint Mary 4-2.

No. 8 Cory Cannan was also in the championship quarterfinal in the 174-pound bracket. Cannan was pinned by the top-seeded Riley Smucker from Life. He bowed out of the championship with a 4-1 loss to the No. 3 seed Abel Nava from Providence.

No. 13 Niko Perovic won his first consolation match of the day at 197 pounds. Perovic defeated fifth-seeded Sawyer Hobbs from Providence 8-2. His championship came to an end dropping a 2-1 decision to No. 15 Cameron Corman from Central Methodist.

No. 12 Carlos Figueroa began his day in the 285 consolation bracket with a 6-0 victory over Brewton-Parker's Wilkinson Saul. Figueroa bowed out of the championship dropping a 3-2 decision to No. 7 Hunter DeJong from Morningside.
