Women’s Basketball Gets Past Freed-Hardeman in MSC Quarterfinals

Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The fourth-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated No. 5 seed Freed-Hardeman 63-59 Friday in the MSC Tournament Quarterfinals at Studle Financial Arena.

With the victory, the Blue Raiders (19-10) advance to Sunday's semifinals where they will take on top-seeded Campbellsville at Noon CT.

Following the conclusion of the game, Taylor Guess was named the H&W Dukes Sports Player of the Game. Guess scored a team-high 19 points on 4-of-7 shooting while connecting on 2-of-3 shots from three and was 9-of-11 from the charity stripe. Lucy Patterson recorded her 10th double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds
.
Freed-Hardeman led 8-5 before the Blue Raiders went on an 8-2 run to take a 13-10 lead with 3:31 to play in the first quarter. The Lions ended the first quarter on a 4-2 run to trim the Blue Raider lead to 15-14. Lindsey Wilson shot 46.7 percent from the field in the first quarter while Freed-Hardeman shot 53.8 percent.

The Blue Raiders opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run propelled by three-pointers from Hodges and Guess to jump out to a 23-14 lead. Freed-Hardeman responded scoring the next six points to trim the Lindsey Wilson lead to 23-20 with 5:49 to play in the half. The Blue Raiders led 27-23 before Freed-Hardeman ended the half on a 7-2 run to lead 30-29.

Freed-Hardeman took a 34-31 lead early in the third quarter before Lindsey Wilson scored the next six points all from Guess to lead 37-34. The two teams exchanged points for the remainder of the quarter as the Blue Raiders led 43-40 going into the fourth.

The Lions tied the game at 43 after converting on and-one before Lindsey scored the next five points to lead 48-43 with 6:57 to play. Lindsey Wilson led 52-47 with 4:55 to play before Freed-Hardeman went on a 7-2 run tying the game with 1:36 left. The Blue Raiders closed out the game on a 9-5 run connecting on 7-of-8 from the charity stripe to secure the victory.
