ASHLAND, Ore. – The No. 12-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team fell to fifth-seeded Menlo (Calif.) 74-67 in the First Round of the NAIA Tournament Friday at Lithia Motors Pavilion
Sydnie Hall led the Blue Raiders (19-12) with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting while connecting on 4-of-8 shots from beyond the arc. In the game, Hall eclipsed the 1,000 career points milestone becoming the 15th player in program history to score over 1,000 points.
Taylor Guess added 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting while
Jordyn Stephens scored eight points.
The Blue Raiders shot 35.7 percent from the field in the first quarter while Menlo was 50 percent from the field. Menlo opened the game scoring six of the first eight points. Following an
Emily Cox basket, the Oaks increased their lead to 11-6 with a 5-2 run. Menlo pushed its lead to 17-8 following a 6-0 run. Lindsey Wilson ended the quarter scoring four of the final six points to trail 19-12.
Lindsey Wilson opened the second quarter scoring seven of the first nine points to trim the deficit to 21-19. After a Menlo basket, the Blue Raiders went on a 5-0 run to lead 24-23 with 5:18 to play in the half. The Oaks rattled off a 9-2 run to jump in front 32-26 with 2:54 to play in the half. Lindsey Wilson ended the first half scoring six of the final points to trail 34-32. The Blue Raiders improved offensively in the second quarter connecting of 7-of-13 (53.8%) from the field.
Tied at 38, Menlo went on an 8-0 run taking a 46-38 lead with 3:53 to play in the third quarter. The Blue Raiders trailed 47-40 before ending the third quarter on a 10-3 run capped off by a
Claire Fleming layup at the buzzer to tie the game at 50.
Hall scored Lindsey Wilson's first six points of the fourth quarter to give the Blue Raiders a 56-54 lead with 7:06 to play. The Oaks scored the next seven points to lead 61-56 with 4:45 remaining. Lindsey Wilson rattled off a 6-1 run tying the game at 62 with 3:28 to play. Menlo ended the game on a 12-5 run to come away with the 74-67 victory.
