Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 21-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis picked up its third straight win with a 6-1 victory over No. 16-ranked Grace (Ind.) today at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The win is the second this season against a nationally ranked team.
The Blue Raiders (5-2) won two of the three doubles matches and won five of six singles matches to seal their second upset of the season.
The NAIA's ninth-ranked doubles team of Jan Silhavy and Miquel Perez opened the day with a 6-4 win over Javier Gallego and Pablo Gregori in the top-seeded match. Jaume Barcelo and Lucas Marques secured the doubles point for the Blue Raiders in the second-seeded match with a 6-2 win over Luis Cordoba and Cesar Garcia.
With the doubles point in hand, Lindsey Wilson dropped the final doubles match. Anatoliy Voloshyn and Aldo Randazzo fell to Slava Pons and Manuel Marques 6-3 on court three.
Lindsey Wilson secured enough points in the first three completed singles matches -- all in straight sets -- to win the team match.
Marques gave the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead on court four with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Garcia. Barcelo followed with a straight-set win on court two to push the Blue Raiders lead to 3-0.
The remainder of the matches all went the distance -- ending in a superset tiebreaker.
Voloshyn and Perez earned wins on courts five and three, while Silhavy lost the day's final match in the top-seeded match in a top-10 battle. Gallego -- ranked No. 9 in NAIA singles -- upset the seventh-ranked Silhavy 6-7 (5), 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).
The win is the 24th straight for the Blue Raiders at Baughman Tennis Complex and the 43rd in the last 44 matches at home.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 7, as the Blue Raiders travel to Missouri Baptist in St. Louis, Missouri.
