Martin Rojo Headlines Second Day of National Championships for Men's Swimming

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team jumped two spots to 12th place on day two of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships on Thursday.

Junior Fabio Martin Rojo highlighted the day for the Blue Raiders with a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle. His season-best time of 4:25.80 is the second-fastest for the event in program history and helped earn him his third career All-American finish for the event and sixth overall as an individual.

Freshman Ethan Butler placed 15th overall in the 500-yard freestyle behind a personal-best mark of 4:40.09.

Lindsey Wilson concluded the day with an 11th-place effort in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Max van Schagen, Malte Ahrens, Jose Rivas, and Clinton Eales combined for a final time of 1:25.79.

Day three of the national championships open at 8 a.m. CST on Friday morning with another round of preliminary events.

Butler and Rivas are scheduled to compete in the 400-yard individual medley, Martin Rojo is due back for the 200-yard freestyle, van Schagen and Eales will compete in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Dario Soria will represent the Blue Raiders in the 100-yard backstroke.
