COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raider softball team celebrated "Senior Day" on Saturday afternoon but fell on both ends of its doubleheader against Georgetown (Ky.).
Lindsey Wilson was troubled all day by the Tigers' movements on the base paths, as the visitors totaled 10 stolen bases and drew 10 walks.
Elizabeth Funk paced the home side with three hits, including a double, and
Melaina Tucker added two hits and a run batted-in.
Game One: Lindsey Wilson 1, Georgetown 14 (5 Innings)
The Tigers opened the scoring with an RBI-single in the first inning before posting a crooked six-run second inning to go ahead 7-0.
A three-piece in the third frame extended the Georgetown lead to 10-0 and the Tigers never looked back.
Lindsey Wilson earned its lone run of the game in the bottom leg of the fifth inning on an RBI-single by Tucker to plate
Natalie Wandrie.
Savannah Robbins (L, 3-3) worked 2.2 innings and allowed one earned run on four hits, while
K'Asia Palmer retired two Tigers on strikes over her 1.2 innings of relief.
Game Two: Lindsey Wilson 1, Georgetown 6
Georgetown got after
Kayden Murray early in the second of Saturday's contests, connecting on two solo home runs in the first inning to build a 2-0 edge.
The Blue Raiders' freshman pitcher eventually settled in to allow just one hit over the next five innings.
In the bottom half of the third, Lindsey Wilson trimmed the deficit in half off the bat of
Kendall Dailey, whose RBI-double to right-center field scored Tucker.
A throwing miscue in the fourth inning restored the Tigers' two-run lead. Then, in the seventh, Georgetown put the game away with three insurance runs.
Murray (L, 10-5) closed the game with 10 strikeouts, her seventh outing of 10 or more this season.
Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown conclude their weekend series at 11 a.m. CST on Sunday morning at Marilyn D. Sparks Park.
