COLUMBIA, Ky. – The 2023-24 regular season comes to a conclusion for the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's tennis teams on Monday afternoon as the Blue Raiders host Cumberland (Tenn.) at 5 p.m. CST at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The 13th-ranked men are fresh off wins over Bethel (Tenn.) on Thursday – 6-1 – and Marian (Ind.) on Saturday, – 4-1 – as are the 11th-ranked women who defeated the Wildcats 5-2 before taking down the Knights 4-1.
Jan Silhavy, who is undefeated in Mid-South Conference play, is on a seven-match winning streak and has won each of this last three bouts in straight-sets. The senior and his doubles partner
Miquel Perez have taken back-to-back wins, while the pair of
Logan Engela and
Anatoliy Voloshyn are 3-0 against league opponents.
On the women's side,
Darija Mladenovic and
Anastasiia Ivanchenko each boast double-digit winning streaks in singles competition and are both unblemished in doubles with their partners
Anastasiia Vorobiova and
Martina Cortal, respectively.
The Cumberland men lost a four-match winning streak over the weekend after dropping a 5-2 decision at Cumberlands (Ky.). The Phoenix won the doubles point over the Patriots but faltered in singles.
As for the women, the Phoenix have lost four-straight and three of their last four conference matches.
Monday will include "Senior Day" celebrations for the Lindsey Wilson tennis program at 4:45 p.m. CST prior to the start of the match.
