MARIETTA, Ga. - The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team fell to No. 1 Life (Ga.) and No. 5 in the NCAA Presbyterian (S.C.) Wednesday at The Upper Gym.
The Blue Raiders began the day with a 38-8 loss to Life and were defeated 31-14 by Presbyterian.
Lindsey Wilson 8 –Life 38
After winning the first five weight classes, Life jumped out to a 22-0 lead. The Running Eagles tallied three tech falls and two pins in the first five matches.
Ta'Jai Broadnex picked up the first win for the Blue Raiders with a pin over Morgan Sacharczyk at 138 pounds. The Blue Raiders also picked up a victory at 145 pounds.
Kori Campbell (No. 7 at 138 pounds) earned an 8-6 decision against Christina Jaen. Life closed out the match with back-to-back forfeit victories and a pin.
Lindsey Wilson 14 – Presbyterian 31
The Blue Raiders won the first three matches to lead 13-1.
Alyssa Archer started the dual with a 12-10 decision over Grace York at 103 pounds giving the Blue Raiders 3-1 lead.
Reagan Thomas increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 8-1 with a pin over Chiara Barbieri at 110 pounds. The Blue Raiders increased their lead to 13-1 after a forfeit at 117 pounds.
Presbyterian won the next seven weight classes to come away with the 31-14 victory. The Blue Hose run started after Alyssa Mahan (No. 5 in the NCAA at 124 pounds) pinned
Sydney Bridenstine (No. 18 at 124 pounds) to cut the deficit to 13-6. Presbyterian closed out the match with three tech falls, one pin, and one decision.
The Blue Raiders are back in action for the King Open on Sunday in Bristol, Tennessee.
