COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team scored 11 event wins and four NAIA "B"-cut standards on Saturday afternoon in a tri-meet with Asbury (Ky.) and Tennessee Southern.
Fabio Martin Rojo touched the wall first in the 500 and 200-yard freestyles, earning a "B"-cut time of 1:45.89 in the latter of the two races. The Blue Raiders continued their dominance in the day's freestyle events, as
Sergio Ybarra and
Azahn Hicks churned out wins in the 1,000 and 50-yard race, respectively. Ybarra added another individual victory later on in the 200-yard individual medley, while Hicks' mark of 21.59 in the freestyle sprint met "B" standards.
In the backstroke,
Dario Soria clocked a "B"-cut time of 53.47 to win the 100-yard race before completing the sweep in the 200-yard backstroke.
Lindsey Wilson's fourth NAIA mark of the day came from
Clinton Eales in the 200-yard breaststroke, and
Tyler Buffel took top place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Blue Raiders finished two-for-two in relays, starting with
Adam Lamhiti,
Jose Rivas, Hicks and Soria in the 200-yard medley, and closing with
Akram Nejjar, Max van Schagan, Hicks and Soria in the 400-yard freestyle.
Lindsey Wilson concludes its regular season schedule at home on Saturday, January 25 in the "Highway 55" Last Chance Invitational.
