COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team bested Campbellsville (Ky.) 67-26 on Saturday in the Highway 55 Last Chance Invitational.
Jose Rivas paced the Blue Raiders with four total victories, while
Sergio Ybarra and
Dario Soria each posted three wins.
Individually, Ybarra turned in a trio of NAIA "B"-cut standards en route to wins in the 200 and 400-yard individual medleys and the 500-yard freestyle. Rivas swept the 100 and 200-yard butterflies and Soria took top honors in the 200-yard backstroke. The pair then teamed up in the Blue Raiders winning relays, placing first in the 200-yard medley alongside
Max van Schagen and
Azahn Hicks, and again with Hicks and
Clinton Eales in the 200-yard freestyle.
Elsewhere for Lindsey Wilson,
Dan Spinola clocked a "B" standard time of 56.98 to win the 100-yard breaststroke, and Eales earned a standard mark of his own of 21.53 to clinch the 50-yard freestyle.
In the 200-yard freestyle,
Fabio Martin Rojo and
Akram Nejjar finished first and second, respectively, by a spread of 0.43 seconds but each timed "B"-cuts with their efforts.
Lastly,
Adam Lamhiti topped the field in the 200-yard breaststroke and van Schagen rounded out the Blue Raiders' winnings with a triumphant swim in the 100-yard freestyle.
Saturday marked the end of Lindsey Wilson's regular season schedule. Next up for the Blue Raiders is the Mid-South Conference Championships, scheduled for February 6-8 at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.
