Men’s Wrestling Receiving Votes in NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Poll

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's wrestling team is mentioned in the receiving votes section of the NAIA Men's Wrestling Coaches' Top 25 Preseason Poll, the national office announced Thursday.

The Blue Raiders earned 40 points in the poll and were just five points outside of the top 25. Last season, Lindsey Wilson finished fourth at the Mid-South Conference Championships and posted a 33rd-place finish at the NAIA National Championships.

Three Blue Raiders are ranked individually in their respective weight classes to begin the year. Adrian Ayala is the highest-ranked Blue Raider, sitting in fifth at 141 pounds. Emmanuel Chelestin starts the year ranked 22nd at 157 pounds, while Cory Cannan begins the year ranked 14th at 184 pounds. 

Grand View (Iowa) begins the year as the top-ranked in the poll with 225 points, while last year's runner-up Life (Ga.) sits in second with 190 points. Southeastern (Fla.) is slotted third at 185 points, Indiana Tech comes in ranked fourth with 180 points, and fellow MSC member Campbellsville (Ky.) rounds out the top five with 174 points. 

The Mid-South is also represented by No. 8 Cumberlands (Ky.) and No. 9 Cumberland (Tenn.) with 142 and 136 points, respectively. Rio Grande (Ohio) and Georgetown (Ky.) are also receiving votes with 19 and eight points, respectively.

The season gets underway on November 1, as the Blue Raiders compete in the Pepsi Patriot Open in Corbin, Kentucky.
