Football Travels to Campbellsville for Top 10 Battle of Highway 55 Matchup

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team travels to No. 9 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Saturday in the annual Battle of Highway 55. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. CT at Finley Stadium.

The Blue Raiders (6-0, 2-0 Mid-South Conference) defeated Cumberlands (Ky.) 62-13 last week at home. Lindsey Wilson eclipsed the 400-yard mark for the fourth time this season, and the 62 points were the most scored in a game since 2021. Reigning MSC Offensive Player of the Week Davontaye Saunders scored five total touchdowns in the victory. Saunders ran for 207 yards on 17 carries with four touchdowns and surpassed 150 yards for a fourth straight game. Defensively, the Blue Raiders recorded three interceptions, returning two for touchdowns. Khaleb Bridges and Ronald Carr each returned their interceptions back for touchdowns.

Lindsey Wilson ranks ninth in the NAIA, averaging 44.7 points per game and 11th in rushing yards per game with 208.7. Defensively, the Blue Raiders allow just 15 points per game, ranking 13th in the NAIA. Saunders ranks third in the NAIA, averaging 137 rushing yards per game, and fourth in rushing touchdowns with 11. Khia Sherrard's eight receiving touchdowns are fifth in the NAIA. Cameron Rankins is fourth in the MSC with 46 tackles, while Jamarques Frank ranks sixth with 38. Darius Moore's four sacks are tied for the second-most in the conference.

Campbellsville (5-0, 1-0 MSC) was last in action on October 4 defeating Cumberlands 49-34. Tre' Bass ran for 201 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns and caught six passes for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His 316 all-purpose yards were the second-most in Campbellsville history.

The Tigers enter play ranked 14th in the NAIA, averaging 43.2 points per game. The Tigers have the eighth-best offense, with 479.8 yards per game  287.4 passing yards per game. Campbellsville is allowing just 50.8 rushing yards a game which ranks second in the NAIA.  Jett Engle ranks 14th, averaging 264 yards per game, and is 16th in touchdowns with 14.

Saturday's matchup is the 16th all-time meeting between the two schools. Lindsey Wilson leads the all-time series 11-4 and 5-2 in Campbellsville. The Blue Raiders have won nine straight including a 16-10 victory last season.
