COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raider men's and women's swimming teams are home for the second time this season on Saturday morning to host Mid-South Conference rival Cumberlands (Ky.).
Lindsey Wilson last competed on September 26-27 in the Dr. Dillery Fall Frenzy, placing first on the men's side and second on the women's out of six teams.
Sophomore
Sergio Ybarra claimed three individual victories in the 400-yard individual medley, 500-yard freestyle, and 1,650-yard freestyle, and finished runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle. His performance earned him men's Swimmer of the Week honors from the conference on September 29.
Last season, Ybarra won the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle races when Lindsey Wilson traveled to Williamsburg, Kentucky. He also set his personal-best time in the 200-yard butterfly – 1:59.13.
Fellow sophomore
Nathalie Medina went four-for-four in her individual events during the Fall Frenzy, touching the wall first in the 200, 500, and 1,650-yard freestyles, and the 200-yard butterfly. Junior
Natalia Gorska swept the 100 and 200-yard backstroke, plus the 50-yard freestyle, and anchored all four of the Blue Raiders' winning relays.
Cumberlands is fresh off a sweep of Shawnee State (Ohio) on Friday afternoon. Juliana Lopez Morales – last season's Mid-South runner-up in the 1,650-yard freestyle – collected a pair of wins in the 100 and 200-yard freestyles, while Adam Geddis paced the Patriot men with victories in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, and 200-yard medley relay.
