Blue Raiders Score 105 Points in Season Opener Against Union Commonwealth

COLUMBIA, Ky.- Lindsey Wilson women's basketball opened its season at home with a win against the Bulldogs of Union Commonwealth, 105-50 at Biggers Sports Center Friday night. 

Meadow Tisdale led the offensive brigade, posting 23 points, six boards, and two blocks in her first game as a Blue Raider. Amelia Hodges and Taylor Guess were the other Blue Raiders to hit double digits with 11 apiece. Saniyah Shelton owned the glass with a game-high nine boards and six assists.

In her first game back, Hodges opened the scoring up for the Blue Raiders with 9:11 remaining in the first quarter, followed by a layup by Shelton on an assist from Hodges at 8:43 to give Lindsey Wilson an early 5-0 lead. At 8:09, the Blue Raiders went on a 7-0 run that lasted until 6:40 to jump ahead 12-2. LWU closed out the quarter on an 18-9 run, where seven different Blue Raiders scored, taking a 32-16 lead headed into the second. 

Tisdale opened the second quarter offense with two quick layups followed by a Jarie Thomas jumper to fuel a 6-0 run that lasted from 9:03 to 7:40, increasing the lead to 38-16. A three-point bucket from Emma Barnett on an assist from Guess at 5:11 sparked a 21-6 run to close out the quarter, giving Lindsey Wilson a 62-26 advantage headed into the locker room. 

Shelton opened the second half scoring on a layup at 8:12 to increase the lead to 64-26. !0 seconds later, Bulldog Kylie Noe answered with a layup of her own for a 64-28 score. Lindsey Wilson closed the quarter on a 17-8 run for a 84-38 lead headed into the final 10 minutes of action. 

The Blue Raiders owned the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 21-12 to go on to win 105-50. The last time Lindsey Wilson scored 100 points was on December 6, 2024 in Lebanon, Tennessee against Campbellsville Harrodsburg (Ky.) in a 105-30 victory. 

Women's Basketball will be back in action on October 29, when they travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky to face the Lady Toppers of Western Kentucky University in an exhibition at 6 P.M. CT in Diddle Arena.
