FOLEY, Ala. – Gus Burtts captured a national championship on the second day of the USA Archery 3D Collegiate National Championship at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve.
Burtts posted the top score in men's fixed pins. He carded back-to-back rounds of 220 to finish with a score of 440. Burtts carded 24 12s which topped the field in fixed pins. He edged out Cumberlands' (Ky.) Caleb Poe and Jackson Ratajczak by four points.
Anthony Schaible and
Will Timmerman finished in 35th and 36th, respectively.
Keegan Benton finished seventh in men's barebow qualification. Benton carded a 350 (189-161) with four 12s.
Dylan Langley and
LaQuann Williams finished in 24th and 25th, respectively. Langley totaled a score of 270 (126-144) while Williams carded a 257 (132-125).
Three Blue Raiders placed in the top 10 in women's barebow.
Sarah McCarthy posted an eighth-place finish with a 332 (146-186).
Anastacia Godman finished ninth with a 322 (160-162) and
Maria Sampson was in 10th carding a 321 (144-177).
AJ Shagool posted a score of 394 (196-198) in men's recurve to place 11th.
Zach Jackson finished 29th with a 339 (174-165) while
Mac Collins placed 36th.
Micah Bettersworth and
Raegan McGuffey finished in the top 20 in women's recurve. Bettersworth carded a 360 (182-178) to finish 18th, while McGuffey finished with a total of 358 (199-159) to place 20th.
Breonna Mullett finished 31st with a 319 (161-158).
Bo Pipes finished 14th in men's compound with a 434 (218-216) with 21 12s.
Keegan Crawford finished tied for 33rd with a 420 (210-210) while Cael Griffith was 39th, totaling 409 (213-196).
Mikayla Cassady carded a 412 (206-206) with 10 12s in women's compound to finish 22nd.
Kaya Williams finished with a score of 402 (204-198) to finish 31st, while
Audrey Mills was 52nd.
MaKenna Langley finished tied for 12th with a 387 (200-187) in women's fixed pins.
Madeline McGuire posted a top 20 finish, coming in 19th with a total of 383 (191-192). Alexis Bolling carded a 365 (190-175) to finish in 30th.
In the mixed team rounds, Burtts and Langley earned bronze in fixed pins with a score of 827. Benton and McCarthy earned bronze in barebow with a score of 682. Pipes and Cassady were sixth in compound with a score of 846. Shagool and Bettersworth finished seventh in recurve with a score of 754.
The Blue Raiders wrap up competition on Saturday with the team and mixed equipment rounds.
