COLUMBIA, Ky. – The "Battle of Highway 55" hit the pool on Thursday evening inside the Holloway Natatorium. Lindsey Wilson's women's swimming team captured eight victories and six national cuts to top Campbellsville (Ky.) 115-73.
The 200-medley relay team of
Hannah Woyscheszik,
Sara Motyl,
Emma Verkuijl, and
Lara Reis opened the meet triumphantly at 1:54.04.
Nathalie Medina and
Natalia Gorska each nabbed a pair of wins with NAIA provisional standards. The latter of the two clocked a winning time of 24.67 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle before touching the wall first in the 100 freestyle moments later – 54.25 seconds. Medina logged her victories in the longer of Thursday's races. First, in the mile with a mark of 18:25.94, then later on at 5:21.43 to claim the 500 freestyle.
Alejandra Martinez set a new season-best of 2:03.80 to win the 200-yard freestyle, and Motyl notched a provisional cut of 2:14.61 in the 200-yard butterfly to earn first place in that event.
Ela Cippico recorded Lindsey Wilson's last national cut of the day in the 50 freestyle, coming in second place at 25.58 seconds.
The meet concluded with Gorska, Cippico, Martinez, and Medina pulling away in the 800-freestyle relay. The quartet's final mark of 8:16.71 is a new fastest time of the season.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, November 8 at Asbury (Ky.).
