GAMBIER, Ohio – Eleven Blue Raider men's swimmers recorded national cuts on day one of the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College (Ohio), on Thursday.
Five NAIA provisional standards were met in the 50 freestyle, led by
Max van Schagen's 11
th-place finish (20.76 seconds).
Azahn Hicks (36
th; 21.32),
Lorenz Hof (45
th; 21.54),
Clinton Eales (49
th; 21.60), and Will Jackson (53
rd; 21.66) each secured national cuts, as well.
In the 500 freestyle,
Sergio Ybarra (4:35.19) and
Ethan Butler (4:36.55) touched the wall in 13
th and 16
th place, respectively, while
Oliver Greaves (31
st; 4:43.59) and
Akram Nejjar (42
nd; 4:50.79) also registered provisional marks.
Jose Rivas and
Dario Soria rounded out Lindsey Wilson's individual showings in the 200 individual medley as the pair logged national cuts of their won. Rivas came in 21
st place at 1:53.55, followed by Soria in 25
th at 1:54.35.
The Blue Raider relays for the day showed big improvements from the preliminary rounds to the finals. The 200-freestyle team of Hof, Soria, Eales, and van Schagen trimmed 4.31 seconds off their prelims time to earn 14
th place.
Then,
Dan Spinola, Soria, Rivas, and van Schagen wrapped up the day by cutting 10.38 seconds off their seeded time to finish 14
th in the 400-medley relay.
As a team, Lindsey Wilson sits seventh overall with 140 points.
Day two of the Total Performance Invitational opens at 9 a.m. CT on Friday, November 21 and includes the 200 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay, and 800 freestyle relay.
