Pair of "A" Cuts Highlight Women's Swimming First Day in Gambier

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team landed eight NAIA national cuts on day one of the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College (Ohio).

Kirsten de Goede and Natalia Gorska headlined the Blue Raiders' efforts in the 50 freestyle as the duo secured respective "A" standards. De Goede hit the wall 0.01 seconds behind first place with a time of 23.09, while Gorska clocked a 23.52 to finish seventh.

Ela Cippico (12th; 23.84), Hannah Woyscheszik (39th; 24.85), Alejandra Martinez (60th; 25.37), and Sara Motyl (62nd; 25.46) all logged provisional cuts in the 50-yard sprint.

Nathalie Medina represented Lindsey Wilson in the 500 freestyle and swam to eight place with a provisional mark of 5:04.24.

Emma Verkuijl placed 39th in the 200 individual medley, earning a national cut time at 2:14.04.

The Blue Raiders competed well in both of Thursday's relays, starting the evening session off with a sixth-place finish in the 200 freestyle with Gorska, Woyscheszik, Cippico, and de Goede, before ending the 400 medley in third. Motyl joined Gorska, Woyscheszik, and de Goede for the final race of the night.

Lindsey Wilson sits in seventh place after the first day of swimming, trailing SUNY Geneseo (N.Y.) in sixth place by four points.

Day two begins at 9 a.m. CT on Friday, November 21 and features the 200 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay, and 800 freestyle relay.
