GAMBIER, Ohio – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team finished seventh in the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College (Ohio), on Saturday. In the final session of the week, the Blue Raiders carded 14 NAIA national cuts, including one automatic time.
The lone "A" standard came from
Sergio Ybarra in the 1,650 freestyle as he hit the wall fourth at 15:48.46. Teammates
Ethan Butler (10
th; 16:09.15),
Oliver Greaves (17
th; 16:25.31), and
Akram Nejjar (23
rd; 16:50.64) all set season-best times in the mile with respective provisional cuts.
Five national marks were met by Lindsey Wilson in the 100 freestyle.
Lorenz Hof placed 15
th with a time of 45.84, followed by
Max van Schagen (45.32) in 21
st,
Clinton Eales (36
th) at 47.32 seconds, Will Jackson (48
th; 47.73) and
Azahn Hicks (49
th; 47.74).
In the 200 breaststroke,
Dan Spinola (2:02.13) and
Adam Lamhiti (2:03.41) both earned top-eight finishes in fourth and eighth, respectively. Then, in the 200 butterfly,
Sirhaan Mia and
Jose Rivas clocked provisional times of 1:57.04 and 1:54.98, in that order.
Dario Soria recorded the Blue Raiders' last provisional time of the meet in the 200 backstroke as he placed 14
th at 1:53.49.
The lone relay of the day, the 400 freestyle, ended up in 19
th place with the team of Jackson, Nejjar, Hof, and Soria posting a season-best time of 3:09.58.
Saturday marked the end of the Blue Raiders' fall semester. Lindsey Wilson returns to the pool on Saturday, January 17 to host Tennessee Southern at the Holloway Natatorium.
