Women’s Wrestling Goes 4-1 at Adrian Duals

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team posted a 4-1 record at the Adrian Duals on Saturday.

After dropping their first match to King (Tenn.), the Blue Raiders rattled off four straight victories, defeating Albion (Mich.), Hiram (Ohio), Siena Heights (Mich.), and Aurora (Ill.)

Lindsey Wilson 18 – King 26
King started the dual, picking up victories at 103 and 110 pounds to take an 8-1 lead. Lindsey Wilson then won the next two weight classes to trim the deficit to 9-8. Grace Lashinsky (No. 16 at 117 pounds) earned a 10-0 tech fall over Avery Kibelbek. Kamilah Brooks (No. 6 at 124 pounds) picked up a 7-2 decision at 124 pounds.

King then earned victories at 131 and 138 pounds, taking a 16-9 lead. Kori Campbell (No. 6 at 145 pounds) trimmed the Blue Raider deficit to 16-13 with a 10-0 tech fall over Kristyn Harr at 145 pounds. Following a King pin at 160 pounds and a forfeit at 180 pounds, Lindsey Wilson trailed 21-18 heading into the final bout. Elina Bommarito secured the victory for King with a pin of Hayeni Costa (No. 3 at 207 pounds).

Lindsey Wilson 50 – Albion 0
The Blue Raiders earned the shutout over Albion with four forfeits and six pins. Reagan Thomas (No. 12 at 110 pounds) earned a pin in 2:13 at 110 pounds, while Sydney Bridenstine pinned Abigail Geairn in just 42 seconds at 124 pounds. Abigail Vanderheyden, Lexi Ritchie (No. 8 at 138 pounds), Campbell, Sofia Toledo, and Mallory Ladd also recorded first-period pins.

Lindsey Wilson 44 – Hiram 5
Lindsey Wilson dropped just one match to Hiram in the victory. The Blue Raiders earned a forfeit before a pin by the Terriers tied the dual at five. Lindsey Wilson then won the next eight weight classes with five pins, two forfeits and a tech fall.

Jaden Evans gave the Blue Raiders a 10-5 lead with a pin of Autumn Shoff at 117 pounds. Callie Payton (No. 5 at 117 pounds) pinned Kretina Rai at 124 pounds in just 36 seconds, making it 15-5. Following back-to-back forfeits at 131 and 138 pounds, Ritchie recorded a pin in the first period at 145 pounds. Kendall Bibla and Cheyene Cruce earned pins at 160 and 180 pounds, respectively. Costa closed out the dual with a 10-0 tech fall over Emily Lorenzon at 207,

Lindsey Wilson 49 – Siena Heights 1
For a second time on Saturday, the Blue Raiders won all 10 bouts in a dual. After a forfeit at 103 pounds, Mylee Goodwin recorded a pin in 22 seconds over Aveona Edwards at 110 pounds. Bridenstine earned a 12-2 tech fall at 124 pounds while Brielle Bibla, Ritchie, and Kendall Bibla all recorded pins at 138, 145, and 160 pounds. Lindsey Wilson closed the match picking up a pair of forfeit victories.

Lindsey Wilson 30 – Aurora 13
Aurora started the dual with a 15-5 tech fall at 103 pounds to take a 4-1 lead. Thomas gave Lindsey Wilson a 6-4 lead with a pin over Katelyn Bell at 110 pounds, while Payton increased the lead to 10-4 with an 11-0 tech fall at 117 pounds. Aurora then trimmed its deficit to 11-7 with a 12-10 decision at 124 pounds. Jelia Ramos gave Lindsey Wilson a 15-7 edge with a 10-0 tech fall at 131 pounds.

Aurora picked up a pin at 138 pounds, trimming the Blue Raider lead to 15-12. Lindsey Wilson closed the dual with 10-0 tech falls from Campbell, Kendall Bibla, and Cruce, while Ladd earned a 9-7 decision.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Sunday for the Adrian College Open.
