Women’s Basketball signs Madeline Butcher for 2026-27 Season

COLUMBIA, Ky.- Madeline Butcher is set to join the 2026-27 Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team, announced Coach John B. Wethington Sunday afternoon.

The Pulaski County, Kentucky native is averaging 21.9 points per game on 39.6 percent from three, 79.1 percent from the charity stripe, and pulling four boards a night her senior season.

Butcher made it known that she chose LWU because of the "people and community around the university as a whole, not just the program." Butcher noted that she felt the support as soon as she stepped on campus because "the coaches have been nothing but fantastic and the student body and community always show up to support the team."

Coach Wethington stated that "she is an awesome point guard that sees the floor and can pull-up and shoot on a dime," highlighting Butcher's competitive nature. Butcher also noted that LWU was the "perfect fit" for her because of the competitiveness of the Blue Raider program and the support from the people that surround it.

"She has a big motor and absolutely loves to compete," shared Coach Wethington. After asking Butcher what stood out to her about Lindsey Wilson compared to other programs that she has considered, she pointed out the team's chemistry and desire to win. "I watched them, they played together and pushed themselves and each other to get better," stated Butcher, "also, once again, the people were just amazing to me and made it feel like home."

Butcher will trade in her Lady Maroons jersey for a Blue Raider jersey after finishing her senior season, making her Lindsey Wilson women's basketball debut in the 2026-27 season.
