Women’s Wrestling Competes on First Day of Patriot Duals

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team competed on the first day of the Patriot Duals on Friday at the UC Volleyball Gym.
 
The Blue Raider black team went 5-1, picking up victories over Liberty ( Va.), No. 8 Cumberlands (Ky.), Montreat (N.C.), Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.), and (RV) Lourdes (Ohio). Lindsey Wilson's black team's only loss of the day came against No. 1 Life (Ga.).
 
Lindsey Wilson defeated Liberty 47-1. The Blue Raiders won all ten weight classes with five pins, three tech falls, and two forfeits. The Blue Raiders defeated Cumberlands 30-15. After dropping the first bout at 103 pounds, Lindsey Wilson rattled off six straight wins to take control of the dual.
 
The Blue Raiders dropped just two matches in their 37-7 victory over Montreat. Lindsey Wilson did not drop a match in the 43-2 win against Lincoln Memorial. The Blue Raiders' final win of the day came in a 43-6 victory over Lourdes. Lindsey won all but one weight class in the dual. The Lindsey Wilson black team closed out the day with a 35-0 loss to Life.
 
Lindsey Wilson's blue team went 2-3, picking up victories over (RV) Rochester Christian (Mich.) and No. 5 Indiana Tech. The Blue Raiders were defeated by No. 4 Providence (Mont), No. 19 Campbellsville (Ky.), and Life.
 
The Blue Raiders earned just two wins in the 37-10 loss to Providence. Lindsey Wilson won the first six weight classes with four pins and two forfeits in the 34-13 victory against Rochester Christian.
 
Lindsey Wilson edged out Indiana Tech 25-24. The Blue Raiders trailed 10-0 before picking up their first win at 117 pounds. Indiana Tech won the next two weight classes to increase its lead to 19-5. Back-to-back pins cut the Lindsey Wilson deficit to 19-15 before a Blue Raider forfeit made it 24-15 with two bouts remaining. Alyssa Pinkston and Cheyenne Cruce recorded back-to-back pins to secure the victory.
 
The Blue Raiders won the first three weight classes before Campbellsville recorded six straight wins in the 29-19 loss. Life jumped out to a 29-2 lead before the Blue Raiders won the final three matches to fall 29-17.
 
Lindsey Wilson is back in action for the second day of the Patriot Duals on Saturday at the UC Volleyball Gym.
