COLUMBIA, Ky. – Sydney Bridenstine captured the title at 124 pounds at the Lindsey Wilson Women's Open Saturday at Holloway Health and Wellness Center.
Bridenstine (No. 17 at 124 pounds) took first recording four pins, one tech fall, and one decision. She started her tournament with three consecutive first-period pins over Kylie Conley, Campbellsville's Malia Burkhardt, and Brewton-Parker's Adeline Harper. Bridenstine then defeated Campbellsville's Addison Rudolph 3-1 and pinned Emory and Henry's Madison Wilson. She captured the title with a 10-0 tech fall over Karli Neathamer.
Josselinne Campos (No. 8 at 145 pounds) and
Lexi Ritchie (No. 11 at 145 pounds) reached the finals of the 145-pound bracket where they took a double forfeit. Campos began her tournament with a second-period pin of Campbellsville's Angelina Pemprano. She then picked up a 15-4 tech fall over Indiana's Sophia Lancin in the quarterfinals. Campos earned a 10-0 tech fall over Brooke Higdon to advance to the finals.
Ritchie pinned Rio Grande's Kara Bebout in just 45 seconds in the quarterfinals. She punched her ticket to the finals with a 10-6 decision over Emory and Henry's Molly Keller.
Payton Agnell finished second in the three-person 110-pound bracket. She picked up a 10-0 tech fall over teammate
Audrey Smith – wrestling unattached – and dropped a 10-1 decision to Rio Grande's Haley Williams.
The Blue Raiders had four top eight finishers in the 131-pound bracket with
Trinity Davis posting the best finish in second. Davis began with a first-period pin of Briyanna Peralta and then earned a 10-0 tech fall over teammate
Alexis Holman in the semifinals. In the first-place match, she was pinned by Campbellsville's Cameron Ortiz.
Jasmin Sawyer finished third and pinned Ava Leary in the quarterfinals. Sawyer was pinned by Ortiz in the semifinals and defeated Holman 4-0 in the third-place match. Holman finished fourth while
Sara Crosslin finished eighth.
Alyssa Pinkston finished second in the three-person 207-pound bracket. Pinkston was pinned by Destiny Vaughans from Greensboro College and pinned Emory and Henry's Emma Lozada.
Alyssa Archer posted a third-place finish at 103 pounds.
Rodiat Adeduntan finished third in the four-person 117-pound bracket while
Catherine Head finished fourth.
Ta'Jai Broadnex finished fourth at 138 pounds with her lone win coming against Indiana's Maggie Boncosky.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Sunday, February 9 for the JCU Open in Cleveland, Ohio.
