LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team earned a runner-up finish at the Mid-South Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships inside the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on Thursday.
Hannah Reid claimed three gold medals and was voted the Mid-South Conference women's indoor Freshman of the Year for her performance. She joins Leia Gregory in 2018 as the program's only award recipients for the indoor season.
Her first win of the day came in the 400-meter dash where she clocked a new school record and NAIA "A"-standard time of 55.15 seconds. Then, in the 600-meter race, Reid bested the field by 14.35 seconds to clinch her second school record – 1:32.60 -- and another "A"-cut.
Reid becomes the first Blue Raider woman to win conference gold in the 600-meter dash and the third different to win the 400-meter race.
Her third win of the day came alongside teammates
Kayly Guthrie, Ta'Shya Cramer, and
Anna Grasse in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet crossed the line nearly eight seconds ahead of Cumberland (Tenn.) in second place and recorded a new program record in the process.
The Blue Raiders only other win of the day came from
Isabel Urrutia Lemus in the 60-meter hurdles. Her final mark of 8.75 seconds topped her previous school record by 0.09 seconds.
In the 60-meter dash, Guthrie garnered second-team honors with a personal-best time of 7.60 seconds. She added another All-conference effort in the 200-meter dash by finishing second.
Lindsey Wilson's team of
Sancia Smith,
Zoe Wilson, Paula Lopez, and Alejandra Recarey rounded out the program's All-conference honorees on the track as they claimed second place in the 4x800-meter relay.
Smith and Grasse also solidified All-conference honors in the 600-meter dash with respective second and third-place efforts.
In the field events,
Rosemond Owusu placed third in the long jump, high jump, and triple jump, while
Charm Rone clinched second place in the long jump and
Reagan Cheatham secured third place in the shot put.
All told, Lindsey Wilson compiled 141 points to sneak ahead of Campbellsville (Ky.) and end up just behind Cumberlands (Ky.).
The Blue Raiders turn their attention to the NAIA National Championships which are scheduled for February 27-March 1 in Gainesville, Florida. National qualifiers will be announced next week.
