WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team picked up a 27-22 victory over No. 5 Cumberlands (Ky.) Friday at the UC Women's Wrestling Gym.
The Blue Raiders won five weight classes in the victory tallying a trio of pin and earning a pair of forfeit victories. With the victory, Lindsey Wilson improves to 15-9 in duals and have won six straight.
Cumberlands started the dual with a 12-2 tech fall at 103 pounds from Dutchess King (No. 7 in NAIA at 103 pounds) over
Alyssa Archer. The Blue Raiders took an 11-4 lead after back-to-back victories. Following a forfeit victory at 110 pounds,
Callie Payton (No. 13 at 117) pinned Kaylin Taylor in the first period.
The Patriots answered tying the match with back-to-back victories at 124 and 131 pounds. Presley Anderson (No. 16 at 124) pinned
Sydney Bridenstine in the first period to trim the Lindsey Wilson lead to 11-9. Annabelle Suto (No. 10 at 131) then earned a 5-3 decision over
Trinity Davis to tie the match at 12-12.
Kori Campbell (No. 8 at 138) put the Blue Raiders back in front 17-12 with a second-period pin over Oriyana Castex at 138 pounds. Cumberlands answered tying the match with an Alivia Ming (No. 13 at 145) pin over
Lexi Ritchie (No. 10 at 145).
Lindsey Wilson secured the victory with wins at 160 and 180 pounds. Josseline Campos (No. 7 at 145) needed just 30 seconds to pin Elena Guerena at 160 pounds to give the Blue Raiders a 22-17 lead. The Blue Raiders clinched the victory with a Cumberlands forfeit at 180 pounds. Cumberlands' earned a forfeit victory at 207 pounds to make it 27-22.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday, Feb. 22 for their regular season finale at No. 9 Campbellsville at 5:30 p.m. CT at the Campbellsville Wrestling Facility.
