Women’s Basketball Travels to Campbellsville for Latest Installment of Highway 55 Rivalry

COLUMBIA, Ky.- Women's basketball faces Mid-South Conference foe and hits Highway 55 to take on the No. 4 Tigers of Campbellsville (Ky.) at 4:30 p.m. CST in the Powell Athletic Center.

Lindsey Wilson (15-11, 2-8 MSC) is coming off back-to-back losses against the No. 6 Cumberlands (Ky.) 70-68 on February 8, and a 71-47 slide against No. 7 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on the 15th. Leading the offensive brigade for the Blue Raiders in conference play is Taylor Guess who is averaging 16.6 points an outing alongside 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. Saniyah Shelton is also contributing 13.6, with 7.1 boards and 2.3 assists.

Campbellsville (23-2, 9-2 MSC) has defeated their last three MSC opponents, with wins against Cumberland (Tenn.) 67-58, and No.14 Bethel (Tenn). 80-62, and most recently No.11 Georgetown 80-72 on Saturday. Lauren Lee leads the offense in MSC play for the Tigers averaging 16.9 with 5.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds. Whitney Hay rounds out the double-digit scoring for the Tigers in conference play tallying 13.6 points, 5.3 boards, and 2.5 assists per outing.

The two teams met for their first match-up of the season in Biggers Sports Center on January 11, when the then-No. 3 Tigers defeated the Blue Raiders 82-61. Lindsey Wilson was held to just 35 percent shooting from the floor, 30 percent from behind the arc, and 72.7 percent from the charity stripe while Campbellsville shot 50 percent from the floor, 47.4 percent from three, and 70.8 from the free throw line. The Campbellsville bench contributed 42 of the 82 points for the Tigers in game one as Dea Bradley came off the bench and went 5-for-8 from downtown, posting a team-high 17 points. Shelton led the offensive efforts for the Blue Raiders playing 38 minutes and posting a 17-point outing.

This will be the 55th meeting between the two programs with Campbellsville ahead in the series 42-12. Lindsey Wilson looks to break a 18-game losing streak to the Tigers which proves to be a difficult task as the Blue Raiders are only 5-19 in the Powell Athletic Center.

Tip-off will be at 4:30 p.m. CST as the women will take on the No.4 Tigers and will be immediately followed by the men at 6:30 p.m. CST in the Powell Athletic Center.
