BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – For the second consecutive year, the Lindsey Wilson men's bowling team secured a top-three finish at the Mid-South Conference tournament at Southern Lanes.
The seventh-seeded Blue Raiders spent all four of their matches on Friday in the consolation bracket but managed to string together three straight wins over higher seeds before running into Tennessee Wesleyan, again, in the fifth round.
First, Lindsey Wilson knocked off sixth-seeded Midway (Ky.) 4-2 – 180-239, 177-167, 203-176, 182-177, 159-225, 188-172, -- then eliminated No. 5 Cumberlands (Ky.) in five – 188-183, 186-182, 214-181, 163-184, 170-124.
The Blue Raiders' success put them up against rivals and fourth-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) for the fourth round. Tied at two games, apiece, Lindsey Wilson rattled off back-to-back wins in games five and six – 237-221, 173-152 – to send the Tigers home and force a rematch with No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan.
The second match-up between the Bulldogs and the Blue Raiders, like Thursday, treated fans to stellar bowling. Unfortunately, Tennessee Wesleyan got the better of Lindsey Wilson for a second time and won the match in four – 224-174, 215-201, 219-171, 239-225.
With Friday's result, the Blue Raiders finish the tournament in third place.
