CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Hayeni Costa's first-period pin propelled the No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's wrestling team past No. 12 Campbellsville (Ky.) 24-23 Saturday at the Campbellsville Wrestling Facility.
The Blue Raiders entered the final match of the night trailing 23-19. Costa (No. 10 at 207 pounds) went against Brianna Staebler (No. 14 at 207 pounds) in the deciding bout. She was leading Staebler 4-2 late in the first period before earning the pin with 19 seconds remaining and securing the victory for Lindsey Wilson.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders close out their regular season with a dual record of 16-9 and finish on a seven-match winning streak. Lindsey Wilson won five matches in the victory with two pins, two tech falls and a forfeit.
Lindsey Wilson led 10-0 after a Campbellsville forfeit to begin the match and
Rodiat Adeduntan pinned Gabrielle Medeiros with 13 seconds left in the second period at 110 pounds. Campbellsville's first win came at 117 pounds with Icart Galumette (No. 12 at 117 pounds) pinning
Callie Payton (No. 13 at 117 pounds) in the first period to make it 10-5.
Kamilah Brooks (No. 9 at 124 pounds) increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 14-5 with a 10-0 tech fall over Josie Davis at 124 pounds. The Tigers answered back with a pair of pins at 131 and 138 to take a 15-14 lead. Oliva Messerly (No. 12 at 131 pounds) pinned

Kori Campbell (No. 7 at 138 pounds) put the Blue Raiders back in front 18-15 with a 10-0 tech fall over Leilani Martinez at 145 pounds.
Josselinne Campos (No. 7 at 145 pounds) dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Sierra Chavez (No. 20 at 160 pounds) at 160 pounds which cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 19-18. Campbellsville earned a forfeit victory at 180 pounds to lead 23-19 before Costa's dual-deciding win at 207 pounds.
Lindsey Wilson now turns its focus to the Mid-South Conference Championship on Friday, February 28 at Ephram White Gym in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
