Women's Basketball Faces Freed-Hardeman in First Round of MSC Tournament

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The No. 6 seed  Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team takes on third-seeded Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in the first round of the Mid-South Conference at 7:30 p.m. CST Saturday at Studle Financial Arena on the Campus of Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The Blue Raiders and Lions met in the first round of the MSC tournament in 2024 where Lindsey Wilson pulled off a 63-59 upset against Freed-Hardeman. 

Saturday's quarterfinal meeting will be the second all-time meeting between the two in Mid-South postseason history. The Blue Raiders have won six of the last 10 match-ups between the two programs but dropped the last two regular-season matchups on January 25 and February 15. 

Freed-Hardeman was ranked within the top 25 of the NAIA Coaches Poll in both regular season games. The Blue Raiders dropped both of those match-ups by an average of 23.0 points while being outshot by the Lions from the field 0.533 to 0.327, 0.375 to 0.183 from behind the arc, and 0.764 to 0.703 from the charity stripe. 

In the first outing, Saniyah Shelton posted 22 points and six rebounds, alongside 10 points and three rebounds in the second meeting. 

As for the Lions, Kaylee Odom averaged 16.5 points in the meetings alongside five rebounds and 2.5 assists. Kelsey Bender and Jenna Satterly also averaged double digits against the Blue Raiders with 11.5 and 11.0 points, respectively. 

Saturday's game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. CST and will be broadcast live on the Mid-South Conference Sports Network. Tickets can be purchased from the Mid-South Conference website. 

The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the semifinal round at 2:30 p.m. CST Monday facing the winner of two-seed Campbellsville (Ky.) versus seven-seed Cumberland (Tenn.).
