Conference Schedule Opens for Softball at Georgetown

3/12/2025 3:57:00 PM

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Nearly one month to the day of the start of the 2025 season, the Lindsey Wilson softball team will open its Mid-South Conference schedule on the road at Georgetown (Ky.).

The Blue Raiders and the Tigers met five times in 2024, including once in the playoffs when Lindsey Wilson eliminated Georgetown in Bowling Green. During the regular season, however, the Tigers got the better of the Blue Raiders with three wins out of a four-game series in Columbia.

Georgetown comes into this year's series on a three-game losing streak, during which the Tigers have been outscored 22-5 and held without an extra-base hit. Junior Kinley Lucas leads the offense with 19 hits, while fellow junior Michalee Clay is hitting a team-best 0.350 with 14 hits and eight runs batted-in.

The Tigers actively lead the Mid-South with 52 stolen bases and average two more stolen bases per game than their opponents. Ainsley Herron and Alanna Pierce are ranked second and fourth, respectively, in the league on their own.

As for Lindsey Wilson, Nora Epley is 10-for-26 across her last eight appearances and is tied for the conference lead in doubles with eight on the year. The freshman has also been walked more than any other player in the Mid-South, having reached base in 17 of the Blue Raiders' 20 games so far this season.

With the help of Epley, Lindsey Wilson is ranked first in the league for total doubles and second in runs scored, hits, extra-base hits, and home runs.

In the circle, Georgetown's Emma Cummings holds a 4-3 record in eight appearances. Her 4.06 earned run average and 29 strikeouts are best on the Tigers' rotation.

The Blue Raiders' Kayden Murray is 2-0 with a 0.79 earned run average and 19 strikeouts in her last four games, while Hallie Roberts is fresh off a complete-game two-hit shutout of Brescia (Ky.) on Tuesday in which she posted a career-high nine strikeouts.

With bad weather expected on Saturday, Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown will open their series with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. CST on Thursday, March 13, then play a single game at noon CST on Friday, March 14.

Live coverage will be provided by Georgetown Athletics on their YouTube channel.
