Softball Drops Back-and-Forth Battle at Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – A wild end to Friday's series-ending game between the Lindsey Wilson softball team and Georgetown (Ky.) went the Tigers way as the hosts walked-off in the bottom of the seventh inning to grab a 7-6 win.

Eleven of the 13 runs scored in the game came over the last three frames, including two by the Blue Raiders in their half of the seventh to take a one-run lead before Georgetown responded.

Brylee Pickerell led the visitors' offense with three hits. Kaiden Rodgers and Brooklynn Becker each added two hits, and five different players drove in a run.

Lindsey Wilson got started in the third inning off an RBI-single by Rodgers to plate Becker. After the Tigers answered to knot the score at 1-1, both sides went scoreless in the fourth.

The following frame, an infield error off the bat of Natalie Wandrie allowed McKenna Ingram to score from second base, then a subsequent miscue sent home Wandrie to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-1 lead.

Georgetown pushed back with three runs on two hits in the next half-inning to go in front 4-3, but the Blue Raiders got right back to work on an RBI-single by Sam Hartman in the sixth. Even still, the Tigers snuck ahead, again, in their leg of the inning to take a 5-4 advantage into the seventh.

The Blue Raiders moved quickly in the top of the inning as Wandrie singled to left field and was immediately sent home when a hit by Kendall Dailey resulted in another Georgetown error to tie the game at 5-5. Four batters later, a sacrifice flyout by Nora Epley plated Dailey with ease.

Unfortunately, the Tigers needed only four hitters in the bottom of the seventh to comeback to secure the victory.

Kayden Murray pitched the complete game for Lindsey Wilson and surrendered two earned runs on nine hits while walking four and striking out two.

The Blue Raiders are back at home at 4 p.m. CST on Friday, March 21 for a Mid-South showdown with seventh-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.).
