ELKHART, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team set two season-bests and garnered one All-American finish on day one of the NAIA National Championships.
The Blue Raiders went into Wednesday seeded 11
th in the 200-yard medley relay, but with the help of a season-best time of 1:32.73, the team of
Dario Soria,
Dan Spinola,
Clinton Eales, and
Max van Schagen secured a seventh-place finish and the program's first All-American awards of the week.
The result in the 200-medley is the men's first top-eight effort in any relay since the 2022-23 season.
Eales, Soria,
Sergio Ybarra, and
Fabio Martin Rojo nearly broke the top-eight threshold in the 800-yard freestyle relay later on but came up just short with a ninth-place finish and season-best mark of 6:48.99, which is 3.34 seconds better than how they were seeded.
Following Wednesday's session, Lindsey Wilson is ranked eighth with 42 points.
The second day of the NAIA National Championships opens at 8 a.m. CST on Thursday, March 6, featuring the 500-yard freestyle (
Ethan Butler, Martin Rojo, and Ybarra), the 200-yard individual medley (Soria), the 50-yard freestyle (van Schagen and Eales), and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
