3/7/2025 8:20:00 PM

ELKHART, Ind. – Inside the Elkhart Aquatic Center, the Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team ended day three of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in ninth place with 128 points, trailing The Master's (Calif.) in eighth place by only two points.

Dario Soria highlighted Friday evening's session for the Blue Raiders in the 400-yard medley relay. The sophomore's lead-off, 100-yard backstroke time of 50.08 seconds bested Will Thilwind's previous program record by 0.41 seconds. Soria's efforts set him and teammates Dan Spinola, Sergio Ybarra, and Max van Schagen up for a ninth-place finish and the men's ninth consecutive top-10 finish in the event.

Ybarra and Ethan Butler placed 12th and 15th, respectively, in the 400-yard individual medley. The latter of the two wound up with a personal-best time of 4:05.04.

Then, in the 100-yard breaststroke, Clinton Eales – 55.67 seconds -- and Spinola – 55.73 -- recorded the two quickest times in program history to earn 10th and 12th place, in that order.

The fourth and final day of the national championships begin at 8 a.m. CST on Saturday, March 8 and include the 200-yard backstroke (Soria), 100-yard freestyle (van Schagen), 200-yard breaststroke (Eales and Spinola), 1,650-yard freestyle (Fabio Martin Rojo, Butler, and Ybarra), and 400-yard freestyle relay.
