WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson archery team posted a third-place finish at the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Archery Championship Saturday at the UC All-Purpose Field.
The Blue Raiders totaled 128 points to finish third. Lindsey Wilson earned 14 medals with four gold, four silver, and six bronze. Cumberlands took home the team title with 230 points.
Lindsey Wilson finished third in the overall season standings which included the 3D and Indoor Championships as well. Cumberlands finished first overall in the team standings after winning all three events. Pikeville finished third in the standings.
Following the conclusion of the event, the MSC All-Conference teams and honors were announced.
Tanner Boyd (men's recurve) and
TJ Ramsey (men's barebow) earned First Team All-Conference honors.
Wyatt Burtts (men's fixed pins) was named to the Second Team.
Boyd earned gold in men's recurve. He defeated Pikeville's Kole Whalen 7-3 in the quarterfinals and advanced to the finals with a 6-0 victory over teammate
AJ Shagool. Boyd then defeated teammate
Daniel Clayton 6-2 to win gold. Clayton defeated Cumberlands' Roman Carpenter 6-2 in the quarterfinals and Cumberlands' Kevin Wilkerson in the semifinals.
Ramsey posted a runner-up finish in men's barebow. He defeated Midway's Michael Humphrey 6-0 and then Campbellsville's William Bennett in the quarterfinals. Ramsey punched his ticket to the finals with a 6-4 victory over Union's Kyle Coffey. He fell to Cumberlands' Tyler Woosley 6-0 in the finals.
Turner Nevitt finished third in men's compound. Nevitt defeated teammate
Ken Parsley in the second round and teammate
Parker Braddock 143-139 in the quarterfinals. He was then defeated by Cumberlands' Blaine Kostrzewski 145-142 in the semifinals. Nevitt defeated Cumberlands' Landon Standish 143-136 in the third-place match.
Maria Sampson earned bronze in women's barebow. Sampson defeated Campbellsville's Brooklyn Steele 7-1 in the second round and Cumberlands' Lauren Oosterbaan 6-0 in the quarterfinals. She was defeated by Cumberlands' Kennedy Sumpter in the semifinals before defeating Campbellsville's Madaline Teipen 6-0 in the third-place match.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action on May 15 for the first day of the USA Archery Outdoor National Championships in Lansing, Michigan.
