Softball Drops Highway Barn Burner to No. 25 Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Blue Raider softball team dropped the series finale to No. 25 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Sunday afternoon, 20-10. The high-scoring affair featured 30 runs on 29 hits, including nine home runs.

Natalie Wandrie paced the Lindsey Wilson offense, finishing 3-for-3 and driving in four runs. Sam Hartman, Kaiden Rodgers, and Brooklynn Becker also tallied multiple hits for the visitors as the trio contributed two each.

Atavya Fowler reached in the first inning after being hit by a pitch, then worked her way around the bags on a groundout and stolen base before scoring on a passed ball. The frame continued with a walk to Brylee Pickerell and double by Rodgers to bring up Wandrie, who, on a 2-2 pitch, rocketed her third home run of the season to dead center field.

The Tigers started to cut away at the deficit with one run in their half of the first and second innings, but a solo home run by Rodgers down the left field line in the top leg of the third pushed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 5-2.

Campbellsville did not shy away, however, putting up a handful of runs in the bottom of the third frame to take a 7-5 edge.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Fowler began the fifth by reaching, again, on a hit-by-pitch. A walk to Pickerell and a base-hit by Hartman followed to load the bases for Wandrie. Adding to her daily resume, Wandrie scorched a single up the middle to plate Fowler and Hartman.

The next at-bat, Olivia Franceschi lined a double to center field to bring across pinch-runner Natalie Shaw and Wandrie, giving the Blue Raiders a 10-7 advantage.

Campbellsville ultimately seized momentum in the bottom of the fifth inning and pulled away to grab a run-rule decision after six.

Four different pitchers saw the circle for Lindsey Wilson, including Kayden Murray who started and became the ninth different pitcher in program history to record 300 career strikeouts with her three on the day.

The Blue Raiders are scheduled to hit the road for the final time in 2025 when they open a Mid-South series at Bethel (Tenn.) at 1 p.m. CST on Friday, April 18.
