OLD HICKORY, Tenn. - The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's golf finished third at the Music City Classic at Hermitage Golf Course on Tuesday.
Of the 17 teams that competed in the tournament, 14 of the 17 are ranked or receiving votes in the current NAIA Coaches' Poll. The Blue Raiders carded a 23-over par 887 (296-287-204) finishing nine-shots behind runner-up No. 9 SCAD Atlanta (Ga.). No. 2 Keiser (Fla.) took home the team title with an 859. Over the three rounds, Lindsey Wilson carded 28 birdies and 177 pars.
Individually, Lindsey Wilson had two spots in the top five, led by
Pitchayapa Pungpho who finished fourth with an even-par 216 (70-71-75). Pungpho recorded eight birdies over the three rounds and was tied for the second-most pars with 40.
Butpapaporn Sukterm finished one shot behind Pungpho tying for fifth with a 217 (71-69-77). Sukterm carded nine birdies and also had 40 pars.
Papatsara Niamrungrueang moved up 10 spots in the final round to finish tied for 25th with a 224 (76-75-73).
Tara Laverty finished tied for 47th with a 231 (80-72-79) while
Kayla Saunders rounds out the Blue Raider scoring tied for 62nd with a 236.
Holly Murphy – competing as an individual – finished 73rd with a 240.
Lindsey Wilson now begins preparations for the Mid-South Conference Championship taking place April 28-29 at Bowling Green Country Club in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
